About Msasani

Msasani is an administrative ward in the Kinondoni District of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. The ward has over 95,000 residents spread across five local government areas: Masaki, Oyster Bay, Makangira, Mikoroshoni and Bonde la Mpunga.

The ward is located north west of Dar es Salaam central business district, it covers the ocean side area from Selander Bridge to Morocco all the way to Mlalakua Bridge. The ward is geographically a peninsula; both the ward and the peninsula are named after the Msasani fishermen’s village, which used to be the only settlement in the area.

Bonde la Mpunga Mikoroshoni Makangira Oyster Bay Masaki

Msasani includes some of the wealthiest areas in the Dar es Salaam Region, Oyster Bay, Masaki and part of Bonde la Mpunga. These areas are home to shops, restaurants, beauty salons, pubs, and other entertainment facilities.

Msasani also has a large portion of high-density and lower-income areas, where a large part of the workforce for the affluent areas resides in, these can be found in Makangira, Mikoroshoni and Bonde la Mpunga.
